Tomatillo

Commodity Overview

Tomatillos are light green with a slight purple tint and seedy flesh covered with a paper-like husk. The fruit has a slight acidic, lemon flavor. The fruit can be used as you would tomatoes, but keep in mind that tomatillos are more tart. Use in salsas, chutneys, sauces or jam. Tomatillos should be stored in a cool, dry area. They are also called Mexican husk tomatoes and Chinese lantern plants. Tomatillos are available year-round from the U.S. and Mexico.<
