Passion fruit is a small, round fruit that has a tough skin that wrinkles as it ripens and turns red, gold or brownish-purple. The pulp is a mustard yellow color with small, black, edible seeds, and it has an intense aromatic tart flavor. Passion fruit is the edible fruit of the passion flower. It's thick, seedy pulp can be used in sauces, desserts, drinks and preserves (seeds are edible). It is available year-round from Florida, California and New Zealand.
