Monstera Deliciosa

Commodity Overview

Shaped like a cucumber, this fruit is generally 8-10 inches long and is covered with tiny platelets that fall off when the product is ripe. Its soft, juicy flesh is custard-like and tastes like fresh pineapple and ripe banana. It should not be refrigerated; store at room temperature. The fruit pairs well with other tropical fruits and when pureed it can be used in baked good as you would use pureed banana. It is available in the fall from Florida.
