Loquat

Commodity Overview

Sized like an apricot with a pale yellow-orange skin, the loquat’s flesh is deep orange and has a cherry-like or apricot flavor. Its exterior can be fuzzy or smooth. Use the fruit as you would other stone fruits, in compotes, jellies, jams, sauces and pies. It is also known as the Japanese plum. Loquats are available year-round from Australia and from Florida, California and Hawaii in late summer.
