Honeyloupe

Commodity Overview

Honeyloupes are a cross between cantaloupes and honeydews. The melons have a smooth, pale-green skin, similar to a honeydew and an orange to salmon-orange flesh. They have a mild flavor and contain few seeds. The fruit is most often eaten raw in slices or chunks because of its sweetness, but it can also be pureed to create cold soups, sauces or desserts. As with most melons, store uncut fruit at room temperature; store cut melons in the fridge. Honeyloupes may have sugar markings on the skin that in no way affect quality. They are available year-round.
