Guava

Commodity Overview

Guava is a tropical fruit that is round or oval-shaped and ranges in size from 2-3 inches to as large as an apple (that, and the fact that it resembles a green apple, explains why the fruit is sometimes called the apple guava). Guava's skin can be green or yellow, and flesh colors range from white to dark pink. The fruit embodies tropical tastes, with hints of pineapple and banana. The versatile fruit can be eaten out of hand, blended into jams, chutneys, ice cream, custards or sauces. It stands up to cooking, baking or preserving. Guava contains small hard seeds and has a fragrant, flowery aroma. It is available year-round from Asian countries and during limited seasons from Florida and California.
