There is some confusion over Lima beans vs. butter beans. Essentially, they are the same thing. The smaller variety (sometimes called baby Limas) are more often referred to as butter beans. Lima beans are often what consumers think about as being the small green variety, but they can also be white. Lima beans are said to have come from Lima, Peru.
