Commodity Overview

Red currants have a pleasant, sour flavor and small, red, semi-transparent berries. They are available during the summer months.

Kiwiberries are a grape-sized fruit whose flesh and taste resembles that of a kiwifruit. Their flesh is sweeter than that of a kiwifruit, and they can be eaten without being peeled.

Cape gooseberries, also known as physalis, ground cherries or goldenberries, are smooth-skinned and golden yellow and about the size of a large grape. Their flesh is sweet and juicy with edible seeds, encased in a thin, papery husk. They can be used in the same way as a tomato.
