The foodservice and food retailing industries have supplied more than $2.1 trillion worth of food each year since 2021, reaching $2.6 trillion in 2023, according to a USDA report.
The International Fresh Produce Association recently brought together volunteer leaders at a policy retreat, which included members of the group’s U.S. Government Relations Council and Political Advisory Committee.
The Reagan-Udall Foundation also issued a report in September calling for staggered implementation of the traceability, starting with suppliers.
“With continued economic uncertainty, attitudes about eating at home and health are evolving, and consumers are seeking a balance between value, wellness and convenience,” said Kathleen Triou, president and CEO of Fresh Solutions Network, the exclusive supplier of Side Delights potatoes and onions.
