Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets has named Bob Gleeson as its new vice president of fresh merchandising.
Gleeson succeeds John Grimes, who retired in June, according to a news release. Gleeson has previously been an executive for Shoppers Food and Pharmacy and Supervalu.
In his new role, Gleeson will oversee procurement and merchandising of the produce, meat, bakery, foodservice/deli, seafood and floral departments. He reports to senior vice president of merchandising and marketing Richard Gunn.
“Bob Gleeson is a proven leader with extensive merchandising experience and a deep understanding of key parts of our seven-state market area,” Gunn said in the release. “We are also grateful to John Grimes for his many contributions over the past 11 years with our company and wish him well in the years ahead.”
Weis Markets operates 200 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
