Wegmans Food Markets will open its first New York City store and its first North Carolina store this fall.

The New York City location will be in Brooklyn, on Flushing Avenue in the Admirals Row development, and will be 74,000 square feet, according to a news release. Its features will include a second-story mezzanine with a 100-seat in-store market cafe and a bar serving food, wine, beer and more.

The North Carolina location will be in Raleigh, part of Midtown East Shopping Center on Wake Forest Road near Interstate 440, according to a second news release. The store will be 104,000 square feet, which will include a restaurant counter called The Burger Bar, which will serve burgers, salads, sandwiches, soups, sides, kids meals and beer and wine.

While that store will be the first in the state for Wegmans, it has plans for four more North Carolina locations — one each in Chapel Hill and Wake Forest and two in Cary.

Hiring and training are now underway for both the New York City and first North Carolina locations. The Brooklyn store will employ roughly 500 people, including 150 full time, and the Raleigh store will employ roughly 475 people, including 150 full time.
