Celebrating the launch of a new location in Pennsylvania, Weavers Way is expanding its existing Member Appreciation programming to include a new Membership Drive offering perks and discounts for newcomers.
From Feb. 15-29, new members signing up will receive a $30 co-op shopping credit, according to a news release.
“We are always looking for ways to thank our customers who, in turn, thank us for providing healthy, sustainable, local grocery alternatives all year long in the Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill, Ambler, and the soon-to-be Germantown areas,” Kathleen Casey, development director for Weavers Way, said in the release. “Our Membership Appreciation and Membership Drives further increase brand awareness of our stores and our mission, strengthen and maintain our neighborhood relationships while providing value and equity to the communities we serve.”
Weavers Way said 10% to 15% of its 11,000-plus member households are based in Germantown, Pa., and the co-ops aims to grow membership there by 1,500 additional households.
Membership starts at $30 or just $5 for those enrolling in the Food for All program, which is designed to support customers facing food insecurity by providing a daily 15% discount, according to the release. A one-time investment of $400 secures a lifetime of benefits and equity, the co-op said, adding that equity belongs to each member, so if a member leaves the co-op, their contribution will be refunded.
As a 100% community-owned establishment, Weavers Way said it pulls out all the stops to thank its loyal members, such as exclusive member-only sales to additional discounts across its stores and farms. Members also can get involved to earn an extra 5% off everything by volunteering six hours of their time, and seniors aged 65 and older receive an added treat of 10% off, the release said.
