Walmart has named Braga Fresh, Soledad, Calif., as its Produce Supplier of the Year.
The retailer recognized Braga Fresh at the Walmart Supplier Growth Forum. The recognition was announced at the Feb. 26 event in Rogers, Ark.
“It all begins with our farming, from harvesting, cooling, and processing, to sales and logistics, every link in the chain is important,” Rod Braga, president and CEO, said in the release. “My family has been farming since the 1920’s, but we only began marketing under Josie’s Organics and Braga Farms in 2013. Being named the Supplier of the Year by Walmart who we deliver to nationwide makes us extremely proud of our 1,400 team members.”
Braga thanked company president Nicholas DaCosta.
“Braga Foods focuses on our fresh-cut, value-added line of products,” Braga said in the release. “Nicholas and his team have led our partnership with Walmart bringing an everyday pursuit of excellence.”
Braga Fresh grows vegetables, salad items, baby leaf blends and baby lettuces, according to the release.
Whole Foods also recognized Braga Fresh in its Supplier of the Year program, for “providing fresh, high-quality produce and offering excellent service,” according to a news release.
