Walmart plans to launch meal kits in more than 2,000 stores this year.
The meals will be sold in the deli section and via grocery pickup, according to a news release. They are available now in more than 250 stores.
Walmart has a variety of options: pre-portioned meal kits, rotisserie chicken meals, and one-step meals.
“Customers are busier than ever and we know getting a delicious dinner on the table can be a chore — we’re here to help,” Tyler Lehr, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of deli services for Walmart U.S., said in the release. “These delicious meals give the best or worst of cooks a fresh, easy option for dinner tonight or later this week.”
The pre-portioned meal kits include Steak Dijon, Basil Garlic Chicken, Sweet Chili Chicken Stir Fry and Pork Florentine.
The rotisserie meals, which include a cooked chicken and additional select ingredients, include Thai Curry Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice.
One-step meal options, which lend themselves to a heat-and-eat scenario, include chicken alfredo, cheesy ravioli bake, meatloaf, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmesan, pulled beef, chicken marsala, curry chicken, pot roast and chicken enchiladas.
