Consumers who use BuzzFeed’s Tasty app to find recipes can now more easily order ingredients for those recipes from Walmart.
Shoppers can search for recipes on the Tasty app — using filters including diet, dish style, occasion and more — and then with one click add the ingredients to a cart. Then the shopper can click once more to move to the Walmart Grocery app and complete the transaction — before which the shopper can remove from the cart any ingredients already at home.
“From watching a mesmerizing Tasty video to cooking it in your own kitchen, the missing link is buying the ingredients,” Ben Kaufman, chief marketing officer for BuzzFeed, said in a news release. “More than two-thirds of our audience have made a Tasty recipe and 90% of American live within ten miles of a Walmart store, so we’re excited to build upon our partnership with Walmart and provide a new feature that will solve the pain point of grocery shopping and make it even easier for our audience to cook their favorite Tasty recipes.”
The companies also partnered on a kitchenware line that has sold more than 4 million units since its launch in March 2018.
On the Tasty app, the order process includes selecting the closest Walmart store, and out-of-stocks are indicated on the app. The Tasty app also allows shoppers to swap out specific ingredients for alternatives that meet various dietary needs and preferences.
“Finding that perfect recipe, creating a grocery list and finally getting to the store can keep any chef out of the kitchen,” Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer for Walmart, said in the release. “We’re excited to create a fun solution that feeds customers appetites to put time back in their busy schedules all while saving money with Walmart’s everyday low prices.”
