Grocery operating system Vori says it is working with retail self-checkout hardware and software solutions provider Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. to provide independent grocers with the ability to easily incorporate advanced artificial intelligence self-checkout solutions into their store operations, driving efficiency, reducing labor costs and improving overall shopper experiences.
This partnership addresses the growing demand in the independent grocery sector for flexible, scalable self-checkout systems that seamlessly integrate with next-generation point-of-sale systems on the market, according to a news release.
“At Vori, our goal is to help independent grocers quickly adopt technological advancements that will boost sales, supercharge their workforces and substantially improve margins,” said Vori co-founder and CEO Brandon Hill. “Partnering with Fujitsu will provide our current and future customers with an easy pathway to implement self-checkout as they switch from outdated legacy POS systems to VoriOS.”
With 30 years of serving the grocery industry, Fujitsu selected Vori as its partner to ensure the evolving needs of their customers would be met with cutting-edge innovation for their front-of-house tools, the release said.
“Our partnership with Vori represents a powerful opportunity for independent grocers,” said Fujitsu Frontech North America President and CEO Shuhei Oyake. “Vori is a reliable and forward-thinking solution provider that has unleashed a new standard for retail technology and system integrations. Together, we’re making it possible for more grocery stores to streamline the checkout process, improve customer flow and stay competitive in today’s fast-paced retail environment.”
What the partnership entails:
- Self-checkout for independent grocers — Vori and Fujitsu are collaborating to provide self-checkout technology fully integrated with VoriOS, Vori’s all-in-one grocery POS system and store management platform. This integration is critical for grocers seeking modern POS systems that work with their existing self-checkout hardware, minimizing the need for costly replacements upon switching to a new POS, the company says.
- Technological advancements — Fujitsu’s S3: Self-Service Simplified line of self-checkout hardware and software technology provides a modular approach to adding self-checkout and advanced loss prevention systems to a grocery store’s technology stack. When paired with Vori’s cloud-based POS system, inventory management, back-office and customer loyalty and marketing tools, grocers will have the opportunity to elevate in-store performance to new heights, the release said.
- Integration into Vori’s ecosystem — VoriOS will natively integrate with Fujitsu self-checkout software and hardware, and by leveraging Fujitsu’s VPOS middleware, VoriOS will have seamless compatibility between Vori’s POS and Fujitsu SCO units produced by other manufacturers, according to the companies.
- Rebooting your checkout — Vori will resell Fujitsu self-checkout hardware to its VoriOS customers. For grocers with existing Fujitsu self-checkout systems that desire to switch to a modern POS, VoriOS can be deployed without the requirement to replace existing SCO hardware, due to Fujitsu’s platform-agnostic middleware. This ensures grocers can switch to VoriOS without unnecessary disruption or SCO sunk cost concerns, the release said.
