A second location of Hy-Vee’s new Fast & Fresh format has opened, and two more Fast & Fresh stores are expected to open by the end of the year.

Those additions will bring the total number of locations of the format to four, with the first Fast & Fresh having opened in December in Davenport, Iowa.

Hy-Vee designed Fast & Fresh as a hybrid of grocery store and gas station, and produce has a prominent spot.

“Fresh produce is front-and-center in Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh locations, including Hy-Vee Short Cuts prepared produce,” director of public relations Christina Gayman said Feb. 14.

“The Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh store format is truly for every type of customer but focuses on convenience and what each customer might need at that moment,” Gayman said. “Whether they want to a quick and easy meal such as made-to-order Mia Pizza, Nori sushi or other prepared meal option, or they need to grab grocery staples such as dairy, meat, produce or healthy snacks, Hy-Vee’s Fast & Fresh provides the convenience of getting in and out quickly with exactly what the customer needs.”

While the locations currently open and the ones expected to open later this year are all in Iowa, Hy-Vee may at some point open Fast & Fresh stores in other markets as well.
