Grand Rapids, Mich.-based SpartanNash has promoted Amy McClellan to vice president of fresh merchandising.

In her new role, McClellan will be responsible for the product assortment, quality and innovation in the fresh product categories, according to a news release. She will also help develop the long-term strategy for fresh across SpartanNash’s 150 stores and the 2,100 independent locations the company serves.

“Amy’s strong leadership in merchandising, market development and strategic growth initiatives will help to grow and expand the fresh merchandising categories at SpartanNash,” chief merchandising and marketing Officer Lori Raya said in the release.

“At SpartanNash, we are building a people-first culture that is laser focused on attracting and retaining top talent, developing our associates and creating opportunities for advancement, while ensuring the safety of our family of associates, customers and communities,” SpartanNash president and CEO Tony Sarsam said in the release. “Amy’s growth, expertise and leadership are inspiring to all, and I have no doubt she will excel in taking our fresh offering to new levels.”

McClellan starts her new role March 8 and will report to senior vice president of merchandising Joe McQuesten.
