Southeastern Grocers is altering its footprint in Florida with plans to open five Fresco y Mas stores and three Harveys Supermarkets.
The Fresco y Mas stores, which offer authentic Hispanic fresh produce, meat and bakery among other products, are scheduled to open Nov. 2 in south Florida, according to a news release. The three Harveys stores are slated to open Nov. 8 in west Florida. They were previously Winn Dixie banners.
The company said the conversion of Winn-Dixie stores to Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket locations reflects its multi-format strategy to personalize banners to provide the shopping experience, products and services that meet the needs of the communities in which they serve.
“The unprecedented success we have witnessed over the past year at our Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket banners is a clear indicator that we are providing localized shopping experiences that resonate with our customers,” said Anthony Hucker, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, in the release. “Rather than relying on one store model, we are entrenching ourselves in the communities we serve to better understand each unique landscape, and our customers’ shopping habits.”
The first Fresco y Más store opened in June 2016 in Hialeah, Fla., and promises to provide customers an authentic Hispanic shopping experience. The five new locations will expand the banner to 23 stores in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
