ShopRite stores plan to celebrate Family Meals Month in several ways, and one of them involves some new products.
During September, the retailer is offering four “chef-inspired, dietitian-approved” meal kits, according to a news release. The kits serve two and cost $11.99.
The four meals available are:
- Smoked Chicken Thighs with Korean Broccoli & Cauliflower
- Grilled Chicken Breast with Couscous & Vegetables Bruschetta
- Turkey Meatloaf with Sautéed Spinach & Butternut Squash
- Smoked Chicken Breast With Roasted Vegetables & Wheat Berry Feta Salad
Also related to Family Meals Month, ShopRite will be doing food demonstrations, classes, events and cookbook distribution throughout the month.
“Here at ShopRite, we believe that mealtime is family time and that there is power and value in sharing family meals,” Natalie Menza-Crowe, director of health and wellness, said in the release. “Study after study has shown that families that make time to dine together are happier and healthier. It doesn’t just benefit the individual. Family meals benefit our community as a whole.”
The campaign is led by the Food Marketing Institute, which has found correlations between family meals and higher self-esteem, better performance at school, positive social behaviors, meaningful conversations and lower likelihood of risky behaviors, per the release.
This year, FMI has also partnered with the Produce for Better Health Foundation on Family Meals Month, encouraging people to not only eat more meals together but to include more fruits and vegetables in those meals.
