ShopRite adds health and wellness digital shopping feature

ShopRite has launched dietary lifestyle filters on ShopRite.com to help shoppers find food and recipes based on their needs — which almost certainly would include fresh produce.

The shopping filters are the most recent addition to the retailer’s health and wellness program, called Well Everyday, according to a news release. The program encourages customers to make better food choices and take small steps toward achieving their nutrition goals.

ShopRite is the registered trademark of Wakefern Food Corp., a retailer-owned cooperative based in Keasbey, N.J., with hundreds of supermarkets in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.

“We are proud to unveil new features on our website to help better serve our customers and make it easier for them to achieve their health and wellness goals,” Natalie Menza Crowe, ShopRite’s director of marketing and wellness, said in the release. She’s also a registered dietitian. “Whether customers are looking to make a lifestyle change or find convenient ways to shop for their needs, our registered dietitians are a valuable resource to help them live well. We look forward to continuing to serve our communities and provide convenient, on-trend solutions and inspiration.”

Almost half of shoppers order at least some of their groceries online, the release says, so ShopRite is continuing to integrate its health and wellness programming into the digital space. When placing a grocery order online or browsing the Recipe Shop, ShopRite customers can filter items to meet their needs and preferences. Filters include: dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, organic, kosher, diabetes-friendly, keto-friendly, low-sodium and low-sugar.

Since 2006, ShopRite’s registered dietitians have provided meal inspiration suggestions and substitutes for different lifestyles. Dietitian coaching is available at select stores, and Well Everyday’s virtual presence includes cooking classes, private consultations, a chat feature and social media outreach.

ShopRite’s wellness solutions tie into seasons, holidays and other trends.

In January, ShopRite offered a downloadable recipe book, meal inspiration, product highlights, resource guides, community events and more ways to shop.
