VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA — Come along for The Packer’s virtual booth visits from the Canadian Produce Marketing Association Conference and Trade Show.
Kassim Tremblay, vice president of global sales operations with Sollum Technologies, shared the benefits of the company’s sun as a service solution.
“What's unique about our solution is that it's flexible,” he said. “It actually allows the grower to adapt his lighting strategy to the needs of his crop by changing the spectrum, the zones or the intensity.”
Helen Aquino, director of brand marketing and communications with Village Farms Fresh, talked about the company’s British Columbia-grown tomatoes.
“We have a really wonderful locally grown program, and it coincides with the spring crop that's come out right now,” she said. “We're running a lot of promotional opportunities right now as well so please get in touch.”
Michael Desimone, sales director for Canada for Driscoll’s, shared the company’s Ontario-grown greenhouse strawberries as well as the company’s blueberries, blackberries and raspberries grown throughout the country.
“What we're trying to do is bring Canadian-grown fruit to the Canadian consumer as close to home as we can and we feel like our varieties can help us get there,” he said.
Ray Mastronardi, vice president of sales with DelFrescoPure, showcased the company’s new cherry tomatoes on the vine.
“The claim to fame with this tomato is this tomato is on the vine as opposed to other cherry tomatoes that you buy at the store that are loose,” he said “What we're giving the customer here is increased freshness increased taste and just a better overall experience when they bring the product home.”
Ben Alviano, vice president of sales at Fresh Del Monte Produce, showcased the company’s portfolio of pineapple including its Mini Honeyglow, Honeyglow, Del Monte Gold and Pink Glow.
“Our Pink Glow [is] the first true innovation for produce,” he said of the pink pineapple. “Sixteen years of development in the jungle of Costa Rica, and it's our jewel of the jungle.”
Ryan Cherry, senior sales manager for Windset Farms, highlighted the company’s new products and its CPMA Best Organic Product award-winning packaging solution.
“What we've done is taken a new look on packaging and sustainability with eco-friendly corrugate banding and paper trays,” he said. “We're excited to bring this to the organic retail landscape.”
