Salix Fruits, a Philadelphia-based importer and exporter of fresh fruits, has opened a new office in Singapore, a move the company says bolsters its presence in Asia and will better serve its clients in the region.

“Having a local office is the most effective way to stay close to our customers in the Asian markets and unleash our full potential in this region,” Javier Orti, sales manager at Salix Fruits, said in a news release.

Orti said Salix thinks the new office will make a significant impact on the region's fresh fruit trade.

“The establishment of this office demonstrates a commitment to meeting diverse market demands and forging stronger commercial ties within the region,” he said.

The company said its goal for this new office is to boost sales volume, provide increased value to its producers with more insights into the Asian market, engage closer with clients and make quick market opportunity assessments.

“The Singapore market offers abundant opportunities for those who comprehend the specificities required for each product,” Orti said. "While we are familiar with these markets, each country within the region presents unique challenges in terms of purchasing power, import requirements and varying product demands.”

Raed Kazi will head the Singapore office, according to the release. Salix said Kazi brings experience as a country manager in India and has worked in the Latin American market.
