Fast-casual salad chain Sweetgreen has opened a grocery store in Washington D.C.
Named The Tavern, the store will emphasize healthy, local products, according to a news release. Labels will tell from which farms various fresh produce items are sourced.
With the market, Sweetgreen wants to “transform the way consumers experience the brand by bringing people one step closer to the locally sourced ingredients they usually only see mixed up in their salad bowls,” per the release.
Sweetgreen has more than 70 locations in California, Washington D.C., Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
