Price Chopper names new president, CEO

Overland Park, Kan.-based Price Chopper Enterprises has selected retail veteran Brian Haaraoja as its new president and CEO.

Haaraoja succeeds Peter Ciacco, who is retiring in mid-April, according to a news release. Haaraoja will transition into the role at that time,

His experience includes leadership roles with SpartanNash, Shaw’s and Giant Food. Most recently he served as vice president of marketing and merchandising for H.A.C. Inc., the parent company of Oklahoma retailer Homeland Foods.

“I look forward to Brian’s contributions to this organization,” Ciacco said in the release. “The board is confident in Brian’s ability to lead Price Chopper moving forward. He is a proven leader whose experience and industry knowledge will greatly benefit to our enterprise.”

Price Chopper Enterprises handles ad coordination, marketing, advertising and shared business operations for the 52 Price Chopper stores in the Kansas City area. The stores are locally owned by the Ball, Cosentino, McKeever and Queen families.
