What does plant-based, plant-forward, or plant-centric mean to people, or the flexitarian diet?
For that matter, do most people really know the difference between what vegans and vegetarians eat?
And knowledge is great and all, but many of us have a head full of it but no energy or time in our busy lives to follow through with the produce-filled way we want to eat.
In this episode of the "Tip of the Iceberg" podcast, we talk with registered dietitian Danielle Magnus, who, with her sister and fellow registered dietitian Lea Loveland, founded Plant-ish, a plant-focused meal brand based in Rye, N.Y.
“Over the years, I've heard from so many that they just don't have the time for food prep. And that's really one of the biggest barriers in maintaining healthy weight, improving health outcomes,” Magnus said.
Preparing vegetables and other almost-whole ingredients requires time and effort, so if there are shortcuts available and accessible to you, take them, she said.

If people don't feel full enough when they eat a meal focused on vegetables, that means they need to eat more of them — especially the fibrous ones.
“You get a lot of bang for your buck with veggies, because you can eat a decent amount and really feel full with all that fiber. And the calories are just very low,” she said.
