Ocean Mist to showcase new recyclable packaging options at Fresh Summit

Castroville, Calif.-based Ocean Mist Farms plans to feature three new artichoke packaging options for organic product during the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit.

The company’s organic artichokes are now being offered in a two-count handle bag, three-count clamshell and two-count ReadyCycle packaging, according to a news release.

The ReadyCycle corrugated clamshell uses vegetable-based inks and is fully recyclable. The two-count handle bag uses high-density polyethylene, the most commonly recycled plastic, per the release. The clamshell packaging uses 90% recycled material.

“The new merchandise-ready artichokes are convenient for our retail partners and packed in quantities that shoppers have shared with us that they want to buy,” Diana McClean, senior director of marketing at Ocean Mist Farms, said in the release. “Plus, the packaging material used is both recyclable and made with recycled material.”

The packs are designed to accommodate mid-sized artichokes, which Ocean Mist describes as ideal for holiday side dishes.

At Fresh Summit, Ocean Mist will be exhibiting at booth No. 2085.
