NGA SHOW: Buehler's bagger earns bragging rights

LAS VEGAS — The nation’s best bagger award and a big check for $10,000 went to Brady Long of Buehler’s Fresh Foods, Medina, Ohio.

Long won the competition at the National Grocer Association's annual conference Feb. 13 in Las Vegas.

He defeated more than 20 other baggers in the competition judged by bagging speed, bag-building technique, weight distribution, style, attitude and appearance.

The competition was sponsored by PepsiCo. Inc. and hosted by Chef Duff Goldman of the Food Network.

Second place through fifth went to:

  • Kayelyn Henley of K-VA-T Food City in Virginia, $5,000;
  • Hunter Wisecarver of K-VA-T Food City in Tennessee, $1,000. 
  • Spencer Balderas of Shaw’s Supermarket in Vermont, $1,000; and 
  • Molly Dittman of Harmon’s in Utah, $1,000.
