San Antonio-based NatureSweet says its award-winning Adora heirloom tomato will be available in select Aldi stores in the U.S.
The tomato earned a Crystal Taste Award, a distinction given to products by the International Taste Institute after being recognized as a Superior Taste Award winner for three consecutive years in 2021, 2022 and 2023, according to a news release.
NatureSweet said Adora offers a perfect balance of sweetness, subtle savory notes, a hint of smokiness and a Brix level higher than 7. Adora’s high water content (94%) makes it a hydrating and refreshing eating experience, the company said. The smooth transition from green to brown along the tomato’s grooves signals the optimum ripening point, which is easy to identify when it’s at its peak, according to the release.
“This is a tomato like you’ve never eaten before,” said Monica Najera Morales, senior brand manager at NatureSweet. “Adora’s superior flavor can elevate any meal, transforming it from ordinary to gourmet. It’s a game changer, and there’s no coincidence that it’s the only tomato with this level of recognition.”
NatureSweet said Adora is also rich in vitamins A and C and an excellent source of potassium and antioxidants.
Adora tomatoes come in a 17-ounce tray and will be available for a limited time at select Aldi grocery stores across the U.S. starting in mid-November and running through March 2025, the release said.
