Mastronardi Produce’s newest product in the “Bombs” line of snacking tomatoes, Honey Bombs, will be appearing in stores in May.

Honey Bombs joins Flavor Bombs and Sugar Bombs, and is an on-the-vine snack tomato like the others and all are marketed under Mastronardi’s Sunset brand.

The Bombs line is featured on Chef Brad Leone’s “It’s Alive” series on YouTube, according to a news release. Leone toured Kingsville, Ontario-based Mastronardi’s Coldwater, Mich., 60-acre greenhouse facility for the segment, and created a recipe using Flavor Bombs.

The Charred Tomato Toast/Mastronardi episode of “It’s Alive” had almost 1.4 million views on YouTube as the morning of March 31.

“Consumers can’t seem to get enough of our on-the-vine snacking tomatoes, so we’re excited to offer them another flavorful option that will take snacking to the next level,” Peppe Bonfiglio, vice president of sales, said in the release.

Mastronardi Produce has expanded facilities to meet demand for on-the-vine snacking tomatoes and other greenhouse produce. The 64-acre capacity Green Empire Farms in Oneida, N.Y., will allow for increased production, especially during the winter, according to the release.

“The investments in marketing and expanding our growing capacity are a reflection of the increasingly high consumer demand for the unbeatable flavor and quality of the Sunset brand,” Bonfiglio said in the release.
