MAP: Walmart stores by state and the potential for online grocery growth

Walmart continues to grow its e-commerce offerings, with grocery pickup now available at 2,100 locations.

The plan is to continue to expand those services to more stores, with the company now putting significantly less money into opening new stores and more into adding online fulfillment options to existing locations.

This map, based on the list of Walmart stores per state that the company included in its latest report for shareholders, gives a feel for the potential for the growth of online grocery not just for Walmart but for the industry as a whole.

While the in-store experience is still paramount, other retailers want to have pickup and delivery options also to stay competitive from a convenience standpoint. As we've seen already, as Walmart ramps up its e-commerce offerings, others are doing likewise, whether by building their own infrastructure or partnering with third parties like Instacart.
