The Kroger Co. is leading into Cinco de Mayo with a four-week event inviting customers to experience savory Latin cuisine and explore the vibrant world of Latin flavors at its stores.
"This event is a celebration of a culture and flavors that inspires togetherness and a passion for food," Dan De La Rosa, group vice president of fresh merchandising at Kroger, said in a news release. "We hope to curate an experience that promises to spark a new culinary adventure, making Latin American recipes approachable no matter your skill level and introduce new foods, spices and products we know customers will love. Come experience the vibrant tastes and fresh possibilities at Kroger."
Customers can look for a complete Latin flavor Kroger takeover featuring Murray's cheese demos and opportunities for sampling, the release said. That includes the following recipes that can be recreated at home:
- Yucatecan Chicken Tacos — Check out a recipe full of Latin flavor that will have everyone asking for seconds.
- Empanadas with Pork and Potatoes or Picadillo — This crispy Latin American staple made easy using refrigerated dough.
- Garlic Lime Fajitas — With Kroger Mercado Thin Sliced Meat these fajitas are quick, flavorful and sure to be a family favorite.
- Grilled Mexican Street Corn — Ready in less than 20 minutes, this heat-packing dish could not be easier.
Kroger says customers ca discover new culinary adventures with vibrant tastes, authentic recipes and fresh Latin-themed, palate-pleasing meals and products available in-store and online including:
- Bakery-fresh tres leches cake slices.
- Deli-fresh guacamole and salsa.
- Home Chef Chicken and Carne Asada Street Taco Kits.
- Thin-sliced Kroger Mercado meats in varieties such as beef top round steak, beef ribeye steak and beef bottom round steak, and beef and chicken fajitas.
- Cilantro lime shrimp bowls.
- Avocados, tomatoes, onions, mangoes and Mexican Street Corn.

For an especially festive culinary adventure, the retailer says to check out Kroger Mercado, which celebrates the tradition of Latin American foods with authentically inspired products. The line includes a range of items including core Hispanic ingredients, the release said.
Chefs looking for even more Latin-inspired cuisine can find product and recipe ideas at The Fresh Lane, with dishes like cheesy chori pollo, huachinango tostadas and sopa de calabacita.
For additional Latin-themed products and savings, shoppers can visit Kroger.com or the Kroger app, with more than $600 in savings available weekly in digital coupons, the release said.
Customers can shop these items and more in-store or through Kroger pickup and delivery, says Kroger, which added that shoppers can save more with Boost by Kroger Plus, the delivery membership that can save customers up to $1,000 per year on fuel and grocery delivery. Eligible customers can now try the Boost membership with a free 30-day trial and subscribe on a monthly basis for as little as $7.99, the release said.
