Consulting firm Kantar has released its 2019 forecasts for the top U.S. retailers, a list that includes numerous grocery companies.
The firm estimates that Walmart will total nearly $400 billion in sales this year, with a store count of 5,256. Kantar forecasts a sales compound annual growth rate of 2% for the next five years for Walmart.
Kroger is the next company on Kantar's list, with projected sales of more than $124 billion and a store count of 3,037. Its growth rate is estimated at 4%.
Costco ranks third among U.S. grocers with more than $109 billion in estimated 2019 sales, with 537 stores and an expected growth rate of 7%.
Albertsons rounds out the top 10 retailers, including non-grocery companies, with projected sales of nearly $60 million and 2,252 stores. Its projected growth rate is 1%.
In its list, Kantar gave positive five-year outlooks for Costco, Publix, Aldi and Hy-Vee.
