Hy-Vee celebrates National Family Meals Month

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee Inc. is offering families easy ways to plan dinner during National Family Meals month.

Throughout September, the Midwest supermarket chain will offer simple weekly meal plans and recipes and also provide dietitian-led Kids in the Kitchen cooking classes for families, according to a news release.

The store is also offering free kids’ meals with an adult meal purchase every day at its Market Grille or Market Grille Express restaurants.

Hy-Vee will post the meal plans in its weekly print and digital ads, and will share recipes on its Pinterest board. Consumers looking for ready-to-eat options will find in-store deals throughout the month, according to the release.

“By providing weekly meal plans and recipes, hosting family cooking classes and offering online grocery shopping, our goal is to make meal preparation less stressful and more fun,” Randy Edeker, chairman, CEO and president, said in the release. “We want to make it as easy as possible for families to plan and prepare meals that enable them to share more time around the table together,”

The retail chain is also hosting a donation challenge. Hy-Vee will give $1 to Meals from the Heartland — up to $100,000 — for every family dinner photo shared using the #hyveefamilymeals or for each “like” the store’s related posts receive.
