Honeybear Brands, Elgin, Minn., is adding price look-up stickers featuring emojis on apples to help consumers experience “all the feels.”

The four emojis — “satisfied, happy, tears of joy and hangry” — are on Honeycrisp and gala apples shipping to retailers this month, according to a news release.

“Using emojis for marketing has been shown to drive engagement, especially with a younger audience,” Kristi Harris, Honeybear Brands brand manager, said in the release. “The PLU sticker is required to be on each apple, so why not have a little fun with it.”

Honeybear Brands asked consumer focus groups about using emojis, and the response was positive, including these comments: “My kids would like these, and it makes apples sound a little more appealing,” and “Kids would have fun with this, but I like it too. Hangry is my favorite.”
