Halos ranks No. 9 on a new list of brands most loved by parents, beating out names including Target, Nike, Scholastic and YouTube.
Los Angeles-based The Wonderful Co. has invested heavily in marketing to ensure awareness for the kid-focused Halos mandarin brand. The campaign during the most recent season included six television commercials, a Times Square billboard and an influencer marketing program with YouTube kid stars, according to a news release. Large point-of-sale displays and digital programs also encouraged sales of the fruit.
Other brands in the top 10 among parents included Amazon, Crayola, Netflix and Google, followed by a slew of candy and snack brands.
This year marks the first time a fresh produce brand has cracked the top 10 of the best-loved-by-parents list, which is compiled by research firm Smarty Pants.
“Moms and dads are looking for whole, natural foods for their homes and their children, and Halos delivers,” Smarty Pants president Wynne Tyree said in a news release.
Cuties, the easy-peeler brand of Pasadena, Calif.-based Sun Pacific, came in No. 19 on the list.
Both Halos and Cuties also ranked on the list of most loved brands for girls (No. 24 and No. 34, respectively), and Halos ranked No. 35 on the list of most popular brands among all kids. Neither Halos nor Cuties made the list of most loved brands for boys.
