MONTEREY, Calif. — Gold Coast Packing debuted a new salad mix July 29 at the PMA Foodservice Conference and Expo.
The Sunny Superfood Salad contains kale, napa cabbage, green cabbage, broccoli stalk, carrots, watermelon radish and cilantro.
“We love the watermelon radish because it gives a great pop of pink color ... ” said marketing coordinator Crystal Chavez. “We have the broccoli stem, the carrots and the radish for the crunch, and the cilantro adds a punch of flavor, with all the superfoods in the cabbage and the kale. It’s a great blend.”
For now the salad is available only for foodservice customers, but that could change.
“A lot of people have asked about the retail, so if it takes off or we see that it’s a better avenue at retail, we’ll have to work with what our customers and everyone wants,” Chavez said.
