ORLANDO, Fla.--Ever since I embarked on a gadget challenge for the November issue of Produce Retailer, I've been hyperaware of retailers clip strip merchandising gadgets in the produce department.
I never really noticed Whole Foods was doing it...until now.
On the Fresh Summit Retail Tour, I saw so many of them I decided to take a picture of every single display I saw in the produce department.
As you can see, there are some challenges to merchandising gadgets in produce. Sure, the display may get rotated, and things may get moved around, but sometimes that means there's a pineapple corer under the cantaloupe or a lime juicer next to the pears.
If you're going to do this, and I think it's a great idea to have a reasonable number of gadgets hanging around, make sure it's on your list to check when you re-set a display.
