Green and red seedless grapes continue to duke it out for preference among consumers in The Packer's Fresh Trends 2018, but variety grapes continue to gain steam. Sixty-two percent of consumers said they bought grapes in the past 12 months, and those buyers were predominantly women.
As is true for many of the classic categories like bananas and carrots, grape purchase among the youngest age group, 18-39 lags behind other groups, with only 53% saying they purchased grapes in the past 12 months, compared to 70%+ for other groups.
Snacking is the primary driver for grape purchase, with 90% of respondents saying their primary way to use grapes is as a snack.
