Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is partnering with Bags 4 My Cause, which provides reusable bags to retailers while getting shoppers involved in supporting local nonprofit causes.
The partnership creates the Fresh Thyme Giving Bag Program, which starts today in all Midwest stores, according to a news release.
Shoppers who purchase the $2.99 Fresh Thyme reusable bag with a Giving Tag have the option to direct $1 to a local nonprofit of their choice via a dedicated website.
For shoppers who opt not to choose a nonprofit within a week after purchase, the donation automatically goes to a local nonprofit chosen by the store’s regional manager and store leadership, according to the release.
“As of February 2018, Bags 4 My Cause has raised over $650,000 to support over 4,000 local nonprofit causes across the U.S.,” said Chris Sherrell, CEO of Downers Grove, Ill.-based Fresh Thyme, in the release.
“We’re honored to work with an organization that shares our mission to be a good neighbor in the communities we serve — giving back is a large part of that commitment. By buying reusable bags, shoppers are able to protect the environment and give to a cause that matters to them.”
