Fresh Farms of Rio Rico, Ariz., has expanded production of its green bell peppers. The company added Jalisco production to its existing Sinaloa, Mexico operations to offer its North American customer base a year-round supply of the fresh produce item. Fresh Farms already offers year-round supplies of its grapes, vegetables and melons.
Having grown bell peppers in Sinaloa since the company started, Fresh Farms said it has “learned a great deal of how to deliver a high-quality green bell pepper to the market.” It is bringing that experience to Jalisco.

Additionally, the company will now offer green bell peppers through Mc Allen, Texas, which it says will assist with continued fresher logistics in the supply chain.
“I truly believe this new venture in Jalisco will give the retailers exceptional quality from Mexico all year round — a total game changer,” said David Watson, senior vice president of sales and marketing, in a release. “Consumers are looking for great quality at a good price, [and] retailers need to promote quality. Consumers will pay for exceptional quality guaranteed.”
Fresh Farms expects its Jalisco bell pepper project to grow year over year.
“We look forward to continue working closely with all our customers in the supply chain who value high quality and the best overall condition product,” the company said.
Fresh Farms recommends that retailers “show they are in the bell pepper business” by building large bulk and displays and cross-merchandising peppers with complementary items, such as ingredients for stuffed peppers, a stir fry or salad.
