Fresh-cut pears coming soon from Crunch Pak

Fresh-cut pears coming soon from Crunch Pak

Crunch Pak, which pioneered sliced apple availability at retail and foodservice, is introducing sliced and diced fresh-cut pears.

The peeled and cut bartlett and anjou pears will be available in seven- and 32-ounce foodservice packs initially.

They officially debut to the industry at the United Fresh Produce Association’s convention and expo June 10-12 at the Crunch Pak booth No. 6040. The fresh-cut pears are a finalist in the Innovation Awards for Best New Fruit Product Category during the show.

“We made a commitment to develop value-added pears many years ago to our growers and customers,” Tony Freytag, executive vice president and co-founder of the Cashmere, Wash., company, said in the release.

“Our location, relative to where the majority of the country’s pears are grown, makes us literally neighbors with orchardists and their crops,” Freytag said in the release. “The countless hours of research and development that was put into the project and the overall commitment of the company to creating this proprietary technology is to be heralded.”

The company had a goal of offering fresh-cut pears when it first opened in 2000, according to the release, but technology wasn’t advanced enough to capture the consistency consumers wanted.
