Fresh From Florida has added a produce bin promotion to its spring retail incentive initiatives, said Susie McKinley, director of marketing and development.

“These appealing, evergreen display bins are not commodity specific, so retailers can feature a rotating selection of Florida produce,” she said.

Florida tomatoes, peppers, squash, sweet corn and watermelon will be featured in the spring promotion.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provides the Fresh From Florida-branded bins to retail partners, and they can be used as endcaps or stand-alone floor displays, she said.

“Retailers pair branded produce bins with point-of-purchase materials, sampling events and circular promotions,” McKinley said. “Using recipe cards with in-store displays and Fresh From Florida recipe videos on social media helps boost existing print ads.”

FDACS supports retailers by promoting Florida spring produce through its consumer advertising campaign and in-store promotions on request.

In-store promotions include grocery cart advertising, floor graphics and, whenever possible, experiential opportunities, she said.

During peak season, Fresh From Florida social media engages shoppers and drives them to look for and choose Fresh From Florida products, McKinley added.

“To expand on the new approaches for the spring 2023 program, FDACS has targeted consumers in the Southeast and Canada with promotions that include print advertisements in consumer magazines featuring an array of spring commodities from Florida,” she said.

Advertisements also feature Chef Justin Timineri and information on how to access recipes and join the Fresh From Florida Club to stay informed.
