The National Mango Board has released the names of the winners in its eighth annual Mango Mania Display Contest.

The board received 135 eligible entries. Displays were judged on creativity, visual appeal and effectiveness in educating consumers about mangoes. More than $8,000 went to winners and other participants. Stores were encouraged to use the spice Tajin in the display, to offer the board’s point-of-sale materials showing how to select and cut a mango, and to promote the fruit’s nutritional attributes.

“It is always amazing to see how the mango love is spread through all the grocery stores that participated in the contest,” Valda Coryat, the board’s director of marketing, said in a news release. “The competition was fierce! But it certainly showed us that retailers are excited to promote mangoes. This contest is always a great way to get retailer engagement as well as boost mango sales and movement.”
