One year has passed since Amazon purchased Whole Foods Market, and the company continues to work its services into the Whole Foods business. People who pay for a yearly Amazon Prime membership benefit most.
Prime members shopping at Whole Foods can receive 10% discounts on certain sale items, and two-hour delivery and grocery pickup are available at some locations. In addition, shoppers can use Amazon's Alexa device to order their groceries by voice.
Amazon has also started offering its various devices in Whole Foods stores, and people who have a Prime membership and an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card get 5% back on purchases from Whole Foods, according to a news release.
“It’s never been a better time to be a customer at Whole Foods Market,” Whole Foods CEO John Mackey said in the release. “Customers have already saved hundreds of millions of dollars, so whether it’s better prices on your weekly shop, saving time through delivery from Prime Now or taking advantage of incredible weekly deals for Prime members, the overall customer experience is richer and more seamless than it’s ever been.”
Jeff Wilke, CEO of worldwide consumer for Amazon, gave a similarly positive statement.
“Making Whole Foods Market’s natural and organic foods more affordable and accessible without compromising the industry-leading quality that shoppers trust has been a top goal since the beginning,” Wilke said in the release. “In just one year we’ve made significant progress bringing the combined value of Whole Foods Market and Amazon together.”
