Greg Greeley announced his departure on a LinkedIn post March 5.

“It has been an amazing and inspirational experience, but the time has come for me to take on a different challenge,” he wrote, although he gave no indication what his plans are.

His departure comes as the company is expanding Prime Now, a delivery service that brings Whole Foods fresh and consumer packaged goods to consumer's homes within two hours of ordering. The service, for Amazon Prime members, debuted in Austin, Texas, Cincinnati, Dallas and Virginia Beach in February, and expanded to Atlanta and San Francisco March 6.

“Amazon is a company where you really can help invent the future, a company where builders can build, a company where you have a unique opportunity to work hard, have fun, and make history,” Greeley wrote in his LinkedIn post. “I am deeply thankful to the tens of thousands of Amazon team members that I  have been fortunate to work with.”
