ORLANDO, Fla. — Stemilt featured a new display kit and a new red-flesh apple juice at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit Oct. 19-20.

Four versions of the Easy Pallet Display are available, with art designed to promote Stemilt apples, pears, organics and Lil Snappers, respectively. The display ships flat on top of a half pallet.

Three varieties of apples can ship together on the half pallet so they can be merchandised together easily on the display once they reach the store, said director of marketing Roger Pepperl and communications manager Brianna Shales. The retailer simply stacks five pallets, unfolds the display and slides it around the stack, and then uses the “envelope” in which the display comes as a table for the display.

Wenatchee, Wash.-based Stemilt also rolled out a new apple juice, which is 50-50 between a Swiss red-flesh apple variety and other Washington apples. It has a pink color and a tangier taste than standard apple juice.

The company also spoke with booth visitors about its Honeyhill brand for Honeycrisp apples and its proprietary varieties SweeTango and Rave.

In addition, Stemilt continues to increase its organic volume. The company’s offerings are about 30% organic now but quickly climbing toward 35-40%, Shales said.
