Fresh Thyme Farmers Market has a clever way of displaying its kid-friendly fruit samples – a mini “Farm Stand” for tiny shoppers.
Scott Shuette, director of retail produce and floral operations for the Downers Grove, Ill.-based retailer, told The Packer's Ashley Nickle that they offer locally grown items depending on region, and some seasonal items like clementines and stone fruit, but the year-round stand offers bananas, apples, citrus and pears year-round.
“Parents have enjoyed the program more than their children because of two simple reasons; eating the samples preoccupies the children while the parents are shopping, and they notice some immediate healthier snacking habits forming with their children,” Schuette said.
