Collinsville, Ill.-based packaging manufacturer Sev-Rend has introduced tray sealing film, a flexible and versatile plastic packaging material catering to the fresh produce industry.
Tray sealing film, also known as top-seal film or heat-sealing film, is a plastic packaging material that is both flexible and versatile, according to a news release. The company says it is primarily used to cover and seal a tray containing various food products, such as baked goods, seafood, snacks, produce, meats, poultry, alternative proteins, and frozen foods.

The tray lidding film plays a pivotal role in keeping food fresh by offering essential functions like branding, product visibility, tamper-evidence and resealable technology, the release said. Sealing the tray also protects food products throughout the production, packaging and distribution processes. Lidding film specifically designed with micro- and macro-perforations, and modified atmosphere packaging films can extend the shelf life of fresh and ready-to-eat foods, according to Sev-Rend.
