SE Grocers’ McLeod heads to Hong Kong

Ian McLeod, who resigned from Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers in mid-June is the new group chief executive of Hong Kong-based Dairy Farm International Holdings Ltd., effective Sept. 18.

Dairy Farm, a pan-Asian retailer, operates around 6,500 stores including supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores, health and beauty stores, home furnishing stores and restaurants in 11 countries and territories, according to a news release.

“Ian brings with him extensive strategic and operational expertise with a strong track record of driving profitable growth,” said Ben Keswick, chairman of Dairy Farm, in a news release.

McLeod was CEO of Southeastern Grocers from 2015 to 2017, and has 30 years of retail experience, including with Asda in the United Kingdom and Germany, and was managing director of Coles in Australia from 2008 to 2015.

He succeeds Graham Allan, who is leaving the company after five years as chief executive effective Aug. 31.
